The first thing to understand is that "copy" only means "words". A copywriter craft words to produce a certain reaction through subtle and not so subtle persuasion. A copywriter crafts words like a web designer crafts a website.
A professional copywriter knows how to evoke emotions and response with expressive but powerful words.
Some copywriters specialize in brochures, advertisement, commercials, web content, article writing, white paper etc. If you look around you will see that a copywriter has already been there!
Of course you will not go after those big advertising jobs. The large companies already have a copy writing staff for in house work. I hope copy writing is more clear to you now.
